[One would think that someone who had been stuck in the dream world for almost a year would be used to whatever curveballs it might throw, but Songerien had a way of surprising people, and that included Cloud.
He had done a fine job avoiding the colorful gumdrops flitting about the air, especially when it interfered with the work he was doing. At the very least he could see the mischievous creatures roaming about, but who could have anticipated the sweater that manifests on him.]
What the—
[The sweater falls loosely around him, neck hole enough to fit another person (I wonder who that could be), one side sagging past his shoulder, the opposite arm dangling close to the floor. He moves to pull it over it off and over his head when the sweater suddenly straightens up to float in the air before violently tugging him elsewhere, nearly knocking off his feet.
It takes everything to keep himself from falling over, still trying to remove the godforsaken sweater off, distracting him from any possible incoming foot traffic.
[Sephiroth was just minding his own business, possibly terrorizing some of the small creatures that inhabit the dreamworld. Either way he was doing something else when something -- or rather someone gets dragged towards him.]
Cloud.
[Though he says it as a statement, it's also kind of a question, even if he sees those blond spikes poking out from under the oversized sweater. Another point proving this place is nothing but nonsense. This seems to be some sort of mess Cloud has gotten himself into, that figures he cannot handle himself, even here.
Sephiroth looks rather smug about it, and reaches towards the sweater to yank it off when it envelops him too leaving the two of them somehow within the same article of clothing.]
[As much as Cloud struggled to free himself from the knitted confines of the sweater, his attempts came up empty almost as if the fabric was fighting him back as it dragged him to who-knows-where. There is barely any time for him to react when it suddenly stops and he hears a voice that sends a chill down his spine.]
Sephiroth.
[His reply is said through gritted teeth. There was no masking his disdain, especially when things couldn't get any worse. And then another violent tug occurs, and just like that he finds himself imprisoned in a none-too-cozy cocoon with his archnemesis.
Great.
Not replying to Sephiroth's greeting, he tries to pull the sweater off once more, only to find itself shimmying back on him to encase him again.]
That'd be too easy, wouldn't it?
[From the edge of the sweater, a tag slips out from underneath the folds, dangling by Sephiroth, away from Cloud's gaze: Get along for one hour.]
[While he sounds completely unbothered, he can't deny that the magic of this world is frustrating at times. Cloud being trapped with him is not something that all unsurprising, but the fact that this isn't his own doing is what's frustrating.
Ah, well.
Despite already being trapped in the sweater with Cloud, he manages to move slightly closer and leans down a bit.]
[As if the lack of personal space wasn't enough, Sephiroth just had to lean down closer. Cloud takes a step back, surprise apparent in his face, but it's gone as quickly as it appeared. It wasn't as if he could get very far considering the confines of the sweater.]
You're calling even this destiny? It's just another one of this place's tricks. Don't read more into it.
Oh? Then why, of all the people here, did it draw you to me and not another?
[Sephiroth might be enjoying this a little too much. It probably isn't destiny, and just a trick of this world, Cloud is probably right. But this is far too perfect of an opportunity.]
[Not that it was hard to mess with Cloud, really. As much as he tried to put up a tough front, there were some situations when he found himself flustered, needing to wing it to get through it.
Maybe it drew him to Sephiroth specifically because of that. Because being in such close quarters with him would mess with him more than he was willing to admit.
But considering how reluctant and antagonizing Cloud was being, a little scratch appears on the tag from earlier, remedying its initial instruction: Get along for onetwo hours.]
What would be gained by that, Cloud? If, as you said before, this whole place is part of your dream then it is your own mind that wants this. And if this is not a dream of your making, then what makes you so important that it'd target you?
[Of course, Sephiroth believes that even though Cloud won't admit it he is drawn to him because that's just how it is. And how it will always be. The whole puppet thing and all. Cloud will always come back to him and other obsessive thoughts that in no way make him a hypocrite.]
[It's not as if Cloud actually knew the answer to that. He didn't believe that this world consisted of just his own consciousness. It couldn't just be his own, not with everyone else around. But he does pick on something else that Sephiroth says.]
And I said it was just a dream, not that it was my dream.
[Important that is. That's what Cloud always wanted. And as if the conversation is now finished, Sephiroth is going to start walking and probably drag Cloud around with him. They're going to go where Sephiroth wants to go.]
[There was a time that he did look up to Sephiroth and even mentioned his hopes and dreams tonhis then commanding officer. But things were different now and his sentiments since then had changed.
Not planning to grace him with an answer, Cloud had opened his mouth to comment back but finda himself being yanked in the direction Sephiroth walks.
The woes of being shorter than his current counterpart finds him stumbling for a brief moment before he finds his footing.]
[Well, since Cloud refuses to answer, Sephiroth is going to do the same. Though in all honesty he has no real purpose to walking, or at least no end target location. He's just going to drag Cloud around with him and see how long he goes along with it.
Which he should no matter what because puppets should follow their master, but Cloud is a rebel and all.]
[He falls in step as Sephiroth walks, attempting to match the taller man's stride so he doesn't fall behind. The tag from earlier swishes by his side. It's only then that Cloud notices it. He reads the instructions printed on, the shift in his expression apparent as his brows dive downward on his forehead.
Cloud takes a breath. A deep, deep breath.]
Where are we going?
[He repeats himself but there's is a clear attempt at being civil, taking all his restraint from sounding curt. Nice? He can't do nice. Not with Sephiroth. This was the best he could do considering the circumstances.]
[Sephiroth clearly isn't going to make this situation easy for Cloud. He's also not going to directly answer and continue to drag him along probably trying every last ounce of patience the shorter man has within him.
That's just how these things go.
Sephiroth does stop after awhile to sit down on a bench. No he's not asking if Cloud is okay with that. They'll just sit here and wait it out. Or kill each other. One of those two things are bound to happen.
It is during this time, Sephiroth realizes how inconvenient it is to be unable to fold his arms with this clothing on them. He'll just have to do something else like touch Cloud's hand instead.]
[Cloud is dragged along, down onto the bench as Sephiroth sits. Though it may have seemed that he would sit still, the moment Sephiroth's hand touches his, he reacts violently.
Yanking his hand away from Sephiroth's, Cloud all but smacks Sephiroth's arm in the same motion.]
[Cloud's reaction earns a little curl at the corner of his lips. At that he leans towards him. It's not as though the shorter man can really go anywhere.]
Not a game, Cloud. It's more akin to a story, one written upon the pages of the lifestream. You simply need to read the words.
[This probably isn't helping Cloud's judgement of what he's doing. And technically he's right. They are all kind of pawns to Sephiroth. The whole world is.]
[No. No, it does not. But the snark takes over and he doesn't even try to hide when he rolls his eyes. Not like there's much room for him to do so in this sweater.]
Can't get the lifestream to answer my questions here. I unfortunately need to settle for you.
