Were their situations reversed, Sephiroth can't say he wouldn't feel the same. In general before everything went down, he both wanted to be left alone and didn't. An outcast with friends and a following. Someone who never really knew his true place in the world.

Though even after discovering the truth, he's not sure he ever found the answer he's always been looking for. That's probably why his goals keep changing. Everytime he thinks he's got a grasp on who he is, somehow it all comes crumbling down.

Now who is he? Cloud's eternal rival? At this point what else is even left?

He says nothing as Cloud breaks away, going back to work on his wounds. His eyes do follow the rhythmic fashion of the movements.

However when the next answer comes, his eyes blink away towards Cloud himself, but only for a very brief moment.
