What do you mean, wrong? I know he didn't recognize the Barge, and it sounds like he's a little younger than he was the last time he was around these parts.

He described his death to me, and it is not something he has experienced, nor did he at any point get close to that state in the reactor one bombing.

And it is not something I'm aware of Zack going through either for him to be confusing his memories with his own.

So whatever put him here, it's nothing that actually happened to him so far as you remember.

[He blows out a breath, considering.]

You think that means he's from a different world compared to you, or does it mean he's going to graduate, get back home alive, and everyone'll think he made it out fine after all?

I would know if what he described actually happened to the Cloud I know.

I believe it could be an alternate set of events.

Or something else has altered his memories.

With my powers, I'd be able to tell you for certain if his memories are real. But as I am now -- without more to go on, there is only speculation.

... All the deaths the people from my world have mentioned to me are the same ones that actually happened. So I'm inclined to think the Admiral isn't fucking with our memories of what happened to us. Alternate events, though, those are way too plausible.

And speaking of your powers, I was talking with Zack about something related to that earlier.

Is Zack still hoping to manifest a wing?

Manifest a wing? I didn't know he could do that. [He laughs.]

Huh. Anyway! No. No, he actually mentioned to me he'd be okay with you getting back the ability to sense where he is. Which I would also be fine with, so long as it's something you'd go for.

Not your ability to influence him. But sensing, yeah.

He fears what I might do, but I suppose this much is a sign he wants to learn more about this.

That, you'll have to talk to Zack about -- I wouldn't want to give you the wrong idea, and he didn't give me those kinds of details about his thought process.

So I'm taking it from your reaction that you'd be happy to get that particular ability back, yeah?

I assume he wants the wing.

And I want all of my powers back, I will not say no to any.

... So how are you feeling about Cloud's return? Other than the weird-ass issues with him remembering things you don't.

What's to feel? I always knew he'd return. It is as it should be even if he's currently ... not right.

Yes. He's still from after our crowning moment together.
