[ Asking a Turk not to have a hidden agenda is an amusing request, especially coming from someone who should most certainly know that it's a primary M.O. of the department. That being said, Tseng has no ulterior motive with his invitation; he'd been quite clear from the start about his intentions, and trying to provide something like camaraderie to Sephiroth, to soothe him, remains his only objective. Of course, he'll have to do a bit of verbal acrobatics to mold his usual coercion into something less obvious, something warmer and more sympathetic. But, honestly, if anyone else might come close to understanding the particular level of frustration and disillusionment Sephiroth feels towards Shinra, it would be a Turk. Tseng simply knows too much not to feel a vague sense of discomfort permeating every piece of his life.

It's ironic, then, that the neutral ground he chooses for drinks is a familiar one, branded and monitored like nearly everywhere else in their lives. He does it as much for the cameras as he does for the ubiquity of its unassuming backdrop--and besides, they can always change venues if Sephiroth actually demonstrates any desire to unload beyond a tenuous agreement to meet.

Tseng arrives first because it's only a short elevator trip from his office, where he's been toiling away as ever, trying to meet impossible deadlines. There are never enough hours in the day. So he'll be seated at a relatively empty bar, with a nearly full high ball glass in front of him and fizzing away. Whether it's actually a cocktail or simply a garnished soda is anyone's guess, and he sips it all the same as he scans one of the less confidential reports he's brought along with him for review, on the off chance Sephiroth opts not to show after all. ]
