But. Ownership seems the sticking point. I'd be tempted to grant it on the basis that you lose it if you make an unseemly decision, but that seems a bit cruel. So. What compromise can we reach?

I've yet to strike anyone without provocation and there's only been one time where that has been necessary.

Yeah, I'm going to just work under the assumption that you know perfectly fucking well that going about saying "I hate all humans" is an action that has consequences. So we'll operate as though neither of us has been lobotomized. What do you want your weapon for?

My hate for humanity does not mean I care enough to kill them all. They mean little to me over all, especially not anymore. And most here are not from my world so they mean even less.

I want the masamune because it is apart of who I am and it is my weapon alone.

Which is why I don't care to play the game where it disappears if you misuse it. I wouldn't care to be without mine, either. But you're stuck dealing with mostly humans, and in my experience, they're not going to find I don't like you enough to stab you that comforting.

I have godlike powers, and humans have done nothing except earn my ire, so not caring enough to strike against them should be a comfort.

Yes, fine, very logical, they won't care. Trust one with godlike powers who does walk among mortals. Anyway, my point is I'm not asking for the weapon back without some kind of failsafe from the admiral.

Don't people get brought back to life? How is that not a failsafe?

And I'd gain nothing from causing anyone here pain. I've only fought one individual, and he ignored my warnings and decided to attack.

Which is why I'm going to suggest a caveat to the admiral, if you're willing?

You're concerned with possession of your own damn sword and have no intention of using the weapon against anyone? Fine. No one seems terribly likely to believe that. So we offer an insurance policy. If you hit anyone who didn't agree to it for sparring purposes, then it won't hurt them.

Reword it so that it can be used in defensive situations and we will have a deal.

Logistics were my next question. There's what seems to be the local stand-by of rendering it ineffective if used aggressively, period. Or there's altering it some way. Make it effectively a sleeping spell or a creeping nausea.

I always thought I'd missed some sort of warden memo. Anyway. My father went through a protracted period of unremitting, murderous human-hate, so you probably can't shock me, and I'm something a bit less than half human myself at best, so I'm not terribly likely to take anything personally.
