[Sephiroth moves in closer and closer behind Cloud. Leaning in so much that silver hair drapes slightly over the younger man's chest.

Bending in very close to Cloud's ear and --]

[He then moves right back to his original seat.]

[ Sephiroth leaning in to him like that, the feeling of his silky hair against his bared skin really shouldn't be sending shivers down Cloud's spine and make him feel down-right flustered. But unfortunately it does.

Curse Sephiroth to the deepest reecesses of hell. The asshole is clearly enjoying this. And then he has the audacity to say no. ]

I really, really hate you.

[ He mutters under his breath as he tries to will away the flush on his cheeks. He quickly finishes with the sunscreen and puts it away. Gaia, does he hope the smug bastard gets a really nasty sunburn. ]

[He did that with the purpose of getting under Cloud's skin. That's all he wanted. To make him squirm. If he wasn't keeping his expression perfectly even (well, mostly smug) he'd laugh at the response.

Instead he just leans back in his seat, satisfied with the results of his actions.]

Good. You should.

[ Cloud takes a deep breath. Alright. So this is not going great. Sephiroth is already getting on his every last nerve, and they've only been here for like 15 minutes. He needs to try harder to not let Sephiroth get under his skin. Which is going to be pretty damn hard considering how infuriating the man is.

He really needs to go for a swim to cool off. ]

Whatever. I'm going for a swim. You can join me, or you can sit here. I don't care either way.

[ He kind of hopes he won't join in all honesty. ]

You do that. I'm going to go over there.

[Towards the people. That he might murder. He stands up shifting to move in that direction. Sephiroth has no real reason to kill anyone here. But with Cloud giving his 'I don't care' attitude, he might as well give him motivation to feel otherwise.

That and making a veiled threat will certainly rile him up, but since Sephiroth didn't declare that he's going to do anything hostile --

Well ... Cloud can't really get that mad, can he?]

[ ....

He really can't win, can he?

Cloud is torn between not wanting to give Sephiroth what he clearly wants, and the desire to protect the people Sephiroth is walking towards. Would Sephiroth really harm them just because? Yes, he's harmed and killed innocent people before, but those were people who in Sephiroth's insane mind got in his way somehow.

He's almost certainly doing this to get a rise out of Cloud, and he can't say that it's not working. Because what if he really does do something to the random people just trying to enjoy a day at the beach?

Ugh. Why does he have to be like this?

He really should have added a "no killing, harming or otherwise traumatizing people" clause to their verbal one-hour-at-the-beach "contract".

Cloud scowls and sets off after him. ]

[Adding those extra clauses would actually be for the best because Sephiroth will try and find every loophole he can in order to make Cloud's life difficult. This is one of those things. While for the moment, he's just heading in the direction of people, he's not below escalating had Cloud not fallen for the bait.

But since he has ... Lets just say Sephiroth has to rein in the rather pleased feeling washing over him. He can't look too smug now, can he?

Casting a glance over his shoulder, he does not stop nor slow down (though he's not exactly moving that quickly to begin with.)]

I thought you were going swimming.

[ Cloud glares at him as he steps in front of him, arms crossed over his chest. ]

I was about to, but I guess I gotta make sure you don't kill people while we're here.

[ Sephiroth is like a murderous toddler that Cloud has to keep constant watch over to make sure he doesn't do something stupid. Exhausting. ]

[Guess he has to stop now or run directly into Cloud. So he stops rather close to where the shorter man is standing. Very close.]

Who said I was going to kill anyone? Though I suppose if something were to happen, I would have to defend myself, no?

[Like anyone (other than Cloud) can do anything to him.]

[ Cloud doesn't move and just continues to glare right up at Sephiroth. ]

The only one who could hurt you is me, so sit your ass down. Or come swimming with me. But I won't have you harrassing random people.

[Sephiroth leans in a bit more.]

So then stop me.

[And with that he goes to step around Cloud and continue on his original path.]

[ Cloud sighs and rubs the bridge of his nose. He'd just wanted to relax, god damnit. He should have known better than to bring Sephiroth around other people.

Once Sephiroth starts walking again, Cloud marches after him and grabs his wrist, giving it a hard tug. ]

C'mon. You don't actually give a shit about those people. You're just trying to fuck with me. Well, congrats, it's working. That what you want to hear?

[He looks down at his wrist and then over at Cloud. While he doesn't look exactly offended that he was grabbed like that, he doesn't look extremely happy either. He does, however, stop.]

Actually, yes. And you're right, the humans there mean very little to me. But they seem to mean something to you. Is that your heroic desire to save everyone?

[ Cloud tightens his grip on Sephiroth's wrist. ]

They don't have to mean something to me for me to not want them dead. That's like, basic human stuff. You don't need to be a hero or whatever to not want senseless murder to happen.

[ He gives him a light tug. ] C'mon. If you want a fight, we can spar or something later. But you agreed to give this a chance.

[Right, right. He did agree to give this a chance, and Cloud clearly isn't going to let go. Sephiroth made his threat known, he'll relent for now.]

It's not senseless if there is a goal in mind.

[Goal being: piss Cloud off.

But he does turn to back in the other direction as Cloud has won this current battle.]

I may hold you to that sparring idea later though.

It is senseless if the goal is just to get on my every last nerve.

[ He lets out a low sigh of relief when Sephiroth at least starts to turn back in the direction they'd come from. ]

That's fine. I'm feeling pretty motivated to beat your ass anyway.

You did wish for me to find enjoyment during our time here, did you not?

[And his enjoyment comes from Cloud's suffering. He makes no verbal comment about the second part, but he is looking rather smug. Cloud being motivated to fight him is something to look forward to.]

Are you still going to get into the water?

Yeah, by doing regular beach things, not terrorizing me and the locals.

[ Cloud sighs a little, still sticking close to Sephiroth. ]

That's the plan. Why don't you join me?

Terrorizing you is much more enjoyable than anything else.

[He makes no remark either way about the water, but he does eye Cloud and then glance out towards the ocean as if considering it. Though Cloud will probably have to actually edge him in that direction. He should have never agreed to this truce.

And to make everything worse, he can't even complain about it.]

[ Cloud rolls his eyes. ]

Of course you'd say that.

[ He oh so gently grabs around Sephiroth's wrist and gives him a slight tug towards the water. ]

C'mon. Swimming's what most people come to the beach for. At least give it a chance.

Will you stop asking if I agree?

[Which he says while being totally pulled towards the water against his choice. Because that's what Cloud is doing and not just kinda tugging him in that direction.]

Yes.

[ Since Sephiroth isn't trying to get out of his hold he continues to lead him towards the water. ]

Very well.

[Fine, he'll get into the water. Just be glad he isn't going to be petty and pull out the wing because that's certainly something that'd incite a panic as it is highly noticeable from a distance.]

What is fun about this to you? This is not a complaint, it is an actual question.

[ Cloud shrugs as he steps into the water. It's warm after the sun beating down on it all day. ]

It's relaxing.

[ At least it's supposed to be. Right now it's a bit hard to relax while having to babysit a homicidal lunatic with a god complex. ]

[He doesn't quite understand why this is seen as 'relaxing' but he probably never quite understood the concept to begin with. Though he follows Cloud into the water, once in it becomes rather apparent how much deeper Sephiroth would be able to go out than him. ]

Imagine if the leviathan was in this area, would people still come here to relax?

[Yes, Cloud. Lets talk about the big water monsters. While in the water.]
